As part of our commitment to the delivery of high quality drug discovery services, we are currently seeking a Group Leader in our Bioscience team to contribute to the expansion of our services as part of a broader succession planning strategy. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Biosciences professional such as yourself to further develop your skills and advance your career with us.

What you’ll be doing:

As a Group Leader in our Bioscience department, you'll play a pivotal role in driving scientific excellence and project success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overarching responsibility for a line group of up to 16 FTE: Provide mentoring and coaching for line managers and project managers within the team.
  • Direct line management of up to 6 scientists: Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, reviews, and development plans, managing their general performance based on agreed objectives and key performance indicators.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee multiple project teams, influence strategic objectives aligned with client needs, and nurture strong client relationships.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional growth.
  • Business Development: Collaborate closely with the Business Development and Marketing team to create web-site content, identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities, and support client projects effectively.
  • Strategic Goals: Contribute to business development efforts and advance strategic departmental goals.
  • Risk Management: Provide diligent oversight of risk management and data quality, ensuring transparency and integrity in client reporting.
  • Team Performance: Actively assess team performance and adherence to company policies.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Resource Allocation: Oversee project delivery, efficiently allocate resources, and cultivate enduring client relationships.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Represent the Bioscience department in cross-departmental meetings, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork.

What you’ll need:

  • BSc, Master’s, PhD, or equivalent in biology or life sciences with a minimum of 10 years' industrial experience.
  • Proven track record in drug discovery projects, with significant experience leading bioscience teams.
  • Exceptional client-facing skills and demonstrated proficiency in project management.
  • Strong organizational abilities, time management skills, and effective team leadership capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of drug discovery processes and expertise in a key area of interest.
